PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:

- No food or drink is allowed on the bus besides water and medical needs. Be sure to bring your own sunscreen, water, and lunch (unless buying food at the festival)!

- When we leave Rochester, we will attempt to board the same buses we took in the morning. Please remember your bus supervisors (who will introduce themselves in the morning) so you can check back in at the end.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to buy tickets to the Rochester eclipse festival?

A: Buying a ticket is optional. Tickets are only for accessing events inside the building. There are many activities being hosted outside that day that do not require tickets, but you may purchase tickets for yourself if you’d like to see more booths inside/watch a planetarium show.

Q: Do I need to buy eclipse glasses?

A: Nope!  We will provide all participants of this trip with eclipse glasses, a safety information card, and an itinerary.

Q: Will lunch be provided?

A: We are not providing lunch—please bring your own or plan to buy food at the festival. No food or drink is allowed on the bus besides water and medical needs, and we may return to Ithaca later than the 7 PM scheduled time if traffic is especially heavy, so it's extra important that you eat in the middle of the day! Remember to bring water and sunscreen!

Q: What does the itinerary look like?

A: 8:00 AM: Pickup on Jessup Road in front of the RPCC parking lot. DON'T be late—we will not wait for you. If you are late, we may give away your seat to someone who missed the registration.

~12:00 PM: Arrive in Rochester, NY, and drop off passengers at Rochester Museum & Science Center. At this point you may leave the group to explore the eclipse festival. Please eat lunch during this time (bringing it yourself or buying at the festival).

3:15 PM: Please return to our Cornell Astronomical Society booth by this time (five minutes before totality) and check in with your bus leader. We will all watch totality in the same group together so that we can quickly depart on buses afterward.

3:20–3:24 PM: Total eclipse! We will all watch totality in the same group together so that we can quickly depart on buses afterward.

3:45 PM: Find your bus supervisor and load buses. We'll leave Rochester as soon as possible. If you are not on the bus by 4 PM, you risk being left behind in Rochester.

~7:00 PM: Return to Cornell University, with drop-off at the same location along Jessup Rd. The exact arrival time is difficult to estimate due to expected heavy traffic.

We'll pass all this info out on the day of the eclipse, so no need to memorize it!

Q: What happens if I miss the bus in Rochester?

A: You will be responsible for finding your own transportation back to Ithaca. Don't be late!
